Tree of Life: Afghan (project)

As some of you people know I crochet. (Yes extremely gay I know)
I learned of a craft show that's coming up, and all I have are hats. I'm tired of making hats. So I found a free pattern on the Lions Brand Yarn website for an afghan.

This how far I am after 1 day of work.
